Bowie is one of many Common boa constrictors currently residing here at Proteus. He is an absolute darling who is frequently seen out basking or resting on his favourite branch.
Bowie came to us with part of his spine fused, this has been checked over by a vet and confirmed to be an old fracture. He cannot move this section of his spine well, but overall his movement doesn't seem hindered. There is potential for Osteoarthritis occurring in later life which will need to be taken in consideration by any potential forever home.
Despite his old injuries Bowie is a very placid and nosey snake. He is currently around 5ft in length and we wouldn't be suprised at all if his growth has been stunted as he has lived with us for a while now and not grown much in size.
Common boas can grow to anything between 6ft and 10ft in length. This should be considered carefully when deciding to adopt as a an extra large enclosure will be needed.
